Yamanashi Prefecture in Japan is known for its wine production. (I mean European style grape-based wine, not Japanese rice wine called sake which is made in several other areas in Japan.) As a medium-time wine enthusiast I wanted to check out local wines in Katsunuma city in the heart of Yamanashi Prefecture. As far as wine goes, I think the Japanese winemakers are doing a decent job but still have some catching up to do to reach the level of best European or American producers. Photographically, though, I think Katsunuma is spectacular.

Japanese grape growers have invented their own elevation method for making the vines prosper in the local climate.

Katsunuma is a pretty peaceful town. At least in March it seems to be.
The vines are everywhere in Katsunuma.
My next visit will be closer to summer, I think.
